My coffee journey continues....Coffee Master Certification - part deux!

Hello!

I am so excited to be part of this blog and begin sharing with each of you, my coffee journey as it continues; and it continued last week when I had the pleasure of sitting down with my mgr Sara, and completing my Coffee Master First Impressions. What a great way to begin 2012 and the first of many coffee connects. Over the course of the next 4 - 6 months I am looking forward to completing my second Coffee Master Certification and sharing my experiences with you along the way via this blog!

So.....back to the coffee....

On Friday I joined a district Brewing Coffee Cadence training session and three new experiences occurred:

  1. I cracked open my new Coffee Tasting Guide

  2. I tasted our new Blonde Roast, Willow Blend

  3. I discovered a new easier way to brew coffee that focusses on quality AND customer service at the same time

I say my day was productive!

Since then I have tasted Blonde Willow and Veranda in various forms: french press, brewed and VIA. (PS - there is a reason why we don't recommend brewing Blonde in a french press - taste it and let me know what you think)

Brewed is my favourite format at this point and Willow Blend is my Blonde of choice! With the East Aftrican component I find this coffee smooth, bright and fresh in both aroma and taste. I am looking forward to many new customers enjoying these great additions! What are you hearing and experience with Blonde?

Until the next tasting,

Tyra

  1. This is exciting Tyra, I look forward to hearing about your adventures in the CM journey! I tried Veranda in a press last week and thought something was off... I do not think many know it isn't recommended to brew that way so thanks for sharing! Yesterday I tried Willow for the 1st time and against TH in a blind tasting I actually was VERY wrong! As a BOLD girl to the core I have a lot more to learn about the Blonde flavor profile.

  2. Good for you Tyra. If I may offer up some advice, it's a tough journey in that many times a competing priority will attempt to lure you away from following the schedule you set for yourself. If this does happen to you, try to remember that Coffee IS our core business, and your certification is just as important as anything else you are doing. That's what I had to do, and every time I did a tasting it was so so much learning and funtimes for all

I got to get myself some Willow : )

  3. I can not wait to keep following your coffee journey ... and your very first blog Ty! Congrats! I've only tried Veranda so far and am looking forward to trying some Willow for this week's coffee markout. I'll let you know what I discover! Although Veranda is very good, I find it a tad too bright for my tastes and have great expectations for the smoothness of Willow Blend. I see a beautiful Blonde in my future ;)
